The Sansevero chapel is a jewel of artistic production in Europe. Located in the heart of the historical centre of Naples, this temple is an original example of art which fascinates the most attentive visitors.

The Chapel was built by Giovanni Francesco di Sangro, Prince of Sansevero at the end of the five hundred as a sequel to a miraculous event and was reborn after almost two centuries thanks to the extraordinary personality of Prince Raimondo di Sangro Sansevero: a philosopher, a studious man of science, chemist, certainly an uncommon inventiveness and fantasy.

The interior of the Chapel is very lively, one of the most interesting works of the seven hundred in Naples; the vault is decorated with frescos by Francesco M. Russo.

In the chapel the magic entwines with the art creating a timeless atmosphere: the “Veiled Christ”, a marvellous lying marble statue of G. Sammartino of 1751, world-famous for the incredible manner used to realize the transparency of the marble veil covering the figure of Christ; the surprising “Anatomic Machines” two human-bodies where the circulation system is perfectly represented even thought how it was realized remains a mystery up till now.
