Situated on the hill of Vomero within the monastery of the same name, antique convent of the Angevin Dynasty, with gardens from which we can admire the stupendous panoramic view of the city and the gulf of Naples, it houses the most important collection of Nativity Scenes in the world, The Cuciniello Nativity. The church is considered to be one of the most beautiful baroque churches in the city, where we can admire masterpieces of Neapolitan paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. In the rooms of the Prior Quarter decorative frescos and many paintings, the “Hall” and the “Library”, thanks to their decorative adornment, are to be counted among the major expression of 18th century Neapolitan art.
The monks cemetery in the large cloister is a work of Cosimo Fanzago, while, the cloister of the Procurator is the work of Dosio. The visit to San Martino unites a panoramic view with art, history and religion.
